Family is Everything

Last week was the Vere and Winnie Johnson family reunion. We've been having these reunions every two years now since 1993. Of course way back then we were much smaller in number and Grandma and Grandpa were still with us.

This year, everyone in the above picture attended (100) and we were missing 45 others who weren't there for one reason or another. Grandma and Grandpa's posterity has now reached 145 members, plus 6 more on the way (that I know of). We missed Grandma and Grandpa terribly, but I know they were there in spirit and I'm sure they were happy with what they saw and heard.

We had a great time as usual. Oh, how I love this family! It's hard to describe in words the feeling I get when we're all together. Thanks to everyone who made the reunion happen. I know how much work goes into these things.

There were tons of great pictures to choose from, with so many uncles snapping away. I'm going to post a few of my favorite shots (mostly taken by my dad). I think these few pictures capture the flavor of a typical Johnson family gathering.

Before Grandpa passed away last spring his priorities narrowed drastically. His constant mantra was "Family is everything!" Thus the saying on this year's t-shirts. Grandpa meant what he said and he was right, family is what it's all about.

What a fantastic get together! I love the photo of your mom on the slip and slide. I think it should be on the front cover of the Herald Journal. Great t-shirts!

D'oh!!! Cami stole my comment again! She always does that. Loved your mom on the slip and slide. Looks like you had a blast - I hope you still have some fun leftover for when I come out! P.S. Who are the Garners? I feel like I should know them...

Fun pictures! We took an old Friend magazine to church the other day and there was a picture of Vere and Winnie and their kids (when they were much younger). It was fun to see!

I love summer time where everyone gets together to have a good time. Looks like you are having tons of fun , we are feeling a little lonesome all by ourselves without family near by.

I like your hair color, is it new?

Sounds like a blast. I loved the family group shot. How did you get that many people holding still at one time? Oh yeah, I guess there is so many that you can hardly see everyone to tell if they are holding still. I loved the one of your mom, that is my favorite and also the one of the little kids sitting on the bench. That last one with the girl that has the flaming red hair is pretty cute too. Maybe you can help me plan ours next year. The giant slip-n-slide is a fantastic idea. Did you read Spencer's post about the slip-n-slide? I'm glad no one got hurt.

I like how your mom put on her best bikini to do the slip and slide!

I loved the reunion too! Even though I'm still new to the family, I just love every time I get together with the Johnson family. I'm glad you wrote about the reunion, and I love the pics you took!
