Christmas in July

We've been going to the lake a lot lately. It's usually a long car ride to get there so we try to keep the kids entertained with some music. They have a favorite play list. Included are some old favorites like Jessie's Girl, Let's Here it for the Boy, and Axel F, also some new hits such as Viva La Vida, Apologize, and I'm Feelin' Good by Michael Buble.

The list is a good one, with one very weird exception. Jonathan insists that the Christmas classic Sleigh Ride is played multiple times on every trip. I have to say, it's a little strange to pull up to the lake, in a swimming suit, the sun beating down on me, the smell of sunblock in my nose, having the words, "outside the snow is falling and friends are calling yoo-hoo," ringing in my ears. It's stranger still to have the song stuck in my head as I'm zipping across the lake on my gas powered "water sleigh." It's truly a new definition of Christmas in July.

P.S. Don't let the picture above fool you. Jonathan is scared to death of the waverunners. Won't ride them at all.

Ha ha ha. I'm with Jonathan. We should be allowed to listen to Christmas music anytime, anyplace. I'm jealous of the lake trips...

I'd like a ride on that water sleigh. I think Calvin would also be scared of them. He won't really go in water past his toenails.

P.S. I'm glad Jonathan doesn't actually drive the waverunner - he's a bit accident prone if memory serves...

Love that Christmas in July music! I'm with Jonathan . . . I'm often humming those songs right now, too. Jacob is regularly singing "Jingle Bells". Have fun on your Lake Powell trip! We're all jealous and wish we could be with you!

I love that! Christmas music is awesome. Millie requests Jingle Bells at least once a week for bedtime. Plus....if the ice cream man can play it....fair game!

me and the kids just came back from a lake trip, but weren't lucky enough to ride on any water carriers. Nothing's wrong with Christmas music in July, I do that when I go on trips too. Glad to know others' are doing it - since my kids thought I was being weird.
