A Visit From Our Favorite Canooks

Our good friends, the Johnstons, came for a two week visit to Utah. While they were here they stayed at the much acclaimed, five star, Dickey Plaza, a.k.a. 'our house.'

The Johnstons used to live just around the corner. Our families spent considerable amounts of time together. About a year ago, they up and moved back to their home country of Canada, leaving us all very lonely and bored. We have missed them terribly, so it was good spending time with them once again. While they were here, for old time's sake, we tried to fit in all the things we used to do together, and we also enjoyed some new adventures.

For old time sake:

-Shoe shopping with Amy
-Burgers and shakes at JCW's
-Biking the Ridge trail (just the guys)
-Deep discussions about politics, religion, life, just about everything
-Watching movies
-Steak dinner with Amy's potato salad and toasted parmesan bagels
-Eating sugar cookies from Flour Girl's and Dough Boys

New Adventures:

-Jet skiing at the lake
-Dinner at the Blue Lemon
-A few girl's nights out
-Tasting new Canadian treats (they have good candy there)
-BBQ at the Hansens
-Setting up a blog for Amy (can't wait for your next post Amy)

The kids also had a great time with their old friends. Mary Kate and Zoe acted like they had never been apart and delighted in wearing matching clothing any chance they got. Issac was a bit shy with the boys at first, but soon they were all tearing up the place, occasionally taking some time out for reading and sleeping.

We love the Johnstons and had a great time seeing them again after so long an absence. You know you're good friends when you can all live together in one house for 14 straight days and still like each other afterward. We miss you guys all over again! Canada is just SO far.

Crazy Canooks. Looks like fun was had by all, though I'm mad at Mike for biking the ridge without me.

You've got to love those friendships that you can fall back into so easily. They are few and far between.

It was nice of you to say such nice things about us, especially after we invaded your home for so long. We worked on our blog tonight, check your email and check it out. And after we finished it all we figured out a way to change the previous title to get those www's out. WE LOVED SEEING YOU GUYS TOO, Canada is too far away!

Oh, how fun! One of the worst parts of living in a transitory ward is that our good friends almost always end up leaving us. Its so nice whenever we're able to see any of them again, so I can just imagine how nice it was for you to see your good friends again for two whole weeks.

Nothing can replace really awesome friends. And I'm not very good at keeping in touch with them once they live more than 2 miles away. So kudos to you for keeping up a great friendship. And two whole weeks? WOW! Those are good friends!!

Sounds like you had a good time with your friends. But, I have to say your posts without stories about the boys are missing something.

I think a reasonable ground rule for all your posts should be -- "At least one story about those charming, entertaining, and well behaved boys is mandatory for every blog entry".

I suspect they provide plenty of material to make that rule viable.
