A plethora of purple decorations – it’s a birthday party for Mary Kate after all and she has a passion for purple
Pizza, purple taffy, root beer, and cheese balls on purple, polka dot plates (try and say that five times really fast)
Let the games begin…
Pass the (purple) Parcel – A traditional birthday party game in New Zealand (as suggested by Grandma Janice). Each layer of wrapping contains a small gift. The center gift is something special, but nobody knows who will end up with it as you pass it around the group and unwrap each layer. Very fun game.
Pass the parcel prizes – Elizabeth ended up with the big prize (panda bear)
The M&M straw game – the first person to roll doubles with dice starts sucking up M&M’s using a straw (and some serious diaphragm muscle) and dispensing each M&M into their own bowl. Simultaneously, the other players are passing the dice around trying to roll doubles as fast as they can. The next person to roll doubles get to suck M&M’s into their own bowl until the next set of doubles is rolled. This continues until all the M&M’s in the communal bowl are gone. The person with the most M&M’s in their own bowl at the end wins. MK won this one hands down with her super human ability to suck hard. This game was hilarious! It’s hard to suck wind through a straw when you laughing hysterically.
Next up: purple bracelet making
All the girls plan on wearing these on the first day of 7th grade. Girl power!!!
These are some great girls. Some of the nicest I’ve ever been around…
…MK’s wish for a purple camera came true. Click!
Winnie was completely ignored as gifts were opened, something she’s not used too. As you can see, she’s feeling very rejected.
A rousing game of Apples to Apples (MK’s favorite game)…
And then off to JCW’s for ice cream, a MK birthday tradition…
Megan, Elizabeth, Mary Kate, Libby, Talia, and Savannah
I think our purple party made our MK happy. (And her ice cream cone happy too)
We love you Mary Kate. Happy 12th birthday!
