Celebrating MK

DSCF0065

What would I do without my Mary Kate? I don’t even want to think about it. She’s my sanity when it comes to raising children. She makes me look like I know what I’m doing as a parent (even though I really don’t). She’s the child I don’t deserve. I was never as nice and sweet as MK, but for some reason God blessed me with her anyway and I’m so grateful. So grateful.

The other day I was preparing something for Mary Kate’s birthday party and talking to a friend about what a nice girl she is. Jonathan was sitting nearby listening to our conversation. His response: “I know Mom, I fall in love with Mary Kate a little bit every day.” I know exactly what he means.

Thursday is Mary Kate’s birthday. Unfortunately Mike and I will be on Pioneer Trek that day so we are planning to celebrate tomorrow with a purple saturated birthday bash. Mary Kate will be turning twelve, which means she will be entering Junior High school in the Fall and starting Young Women’s. I’ll be sending her to girl’s camp in just a few short weeks.  I’m having a hard time accepting that, but the truth is…my baby’s growing up.

Happy Birthday Mary Kate. I love you so very much and I’m incredibly happy to be your mother. It’s one of the best things about my life.

Hands down one of the most darling and wonderful children I've come in contact with! Happy Birthday Mary Kate! Maybe we can get my baby to share your birthday too!

Most people probably don't deserve a Mary Kate, but someone has to raise them and I'm glad you get to be one.

Happy Birthday Mary Kate!

She's essentially my favorite human, along with my daughter and other nieces and nephews. I loved living with you guys especially because I got to hang out with MK so much.

We're quite delighted that we get Mary Kate for her birthday. She's so easy to love and have around. There should be more of her in this world because she really is one of a kind--a good kind! We'll wish her birthday happies when she gets here.

Ditto to everything you said, except I get to be her grandmother. And, I think you deserve her. You are a great daughter yourself. I love you Mary Kate!!!
