Pizza and Cookie Are Wed

My cousin Paul moved in with us this spring. He came down from school at Utah State University to be nearer to his lovely girlfriend Caitlyn who was attending BYU. We have been happy to have Paul in our home for the last few months. He's a very pleasant person, but mostly because having him around meant that we also had Caitlyn around as well.

As soon as Caitlyn got acquainted with the boys (over a rousing game of Wii bowling) they took to her instantly and decided she needed a special nickname. From that day forward Caitlyn has been known around our house as ‘Cookie.’ Of course since Caitlyn had a new name, the boys decided Paul needed one too and they subsequently dubbed him ‘Pizza’…“because” they said…”pizza and cookies go great together!”

We have loved having Pizza and Cookie be part of our family these past few months, to see them fall in love, congratulate them when they got engaged, and then celebrate their sealing for time and all eternity in the Manti, Utah temple yesterday. Now they are husband wife and we all agree that the boys were right, Pizza and Cookie really do go great together. These two are two of the best people we know.

I hadn’t seen the Manti temple since I was a young teenager (and not old enough to appreciate how beautiful it is). What an amazing piece of architecture! I’m glad Paul and Caitlyn decided to be married there. (Caitlyn’s grandfather is an officiator at the Manti temple and was able to perform their sealing) I was happy to have the chance to experience this beautiful building, inside and out.

Even better was being able to spend time with some of my favorite people in the universe…

Having Paul and Caitlyn around has been reflective for me, not only because I used to live with my Uncle Brad and Aunt Rosie years ago and helped take care of Paul as a little boy and now he’s a married man; but because watching Paul and Caitlyn has taken me back (many, many years ago) to when Mike and I were like them…very young and in love, not knowing exactly what the future would bring but so happy to be together. Now we are much older, luckily even more in love, and still wondering what the future will bring. Marriage can be a beautiful thing and I’m very happy to have this man in my life.

These two are going to have a great life together too. I can feel it.
