I would like to introduce to you the newest member of my extended family…my niece, Catherine Juliette. This most deliciously beautiful baby belongs to my brother Andrew and his wife Laurie. She arrived in this world yesterday and weighed a healthy 9 pounds 3 ounces and was 21 inches long. As you can see she has a substantial mop of hair. It’s a lovely silver brown and I spent plenty of time running my fingers through it and kissing her soft, chubby cheeks. I love this little one.
Little baby wanted so badly to open her eyes and look around. She would get her eyes open a crack, only for a couple seconds, and decide that this new place was just too bright and she’d shut her eyes tightly again. Luckily I snapped this picture just in time. I have a feeling her eye’s are going to be blue like Andrew’s. We’ll see.
I think she looks most like Andrew, maybe even a little bit like my mom, but sometimes it hard to tell on the first day. What do you think…does she look like her daddy, minus the beard?
Who knows, she might have a bit of her mom in her too. Laurie was doing well yesterday despite the c-section. The doctors decided to do a c-section because of the babies potential size. This turned out to be a good decision because the cord was wrapped around the babies neck twice. A normal deliver could have proven very dangerous. Tender mercy.
Emily sat and held her new sister for a long time and studied her quietly and intently. I asked her what she thought of her new sister and she replied simply, “good.” She seems to approve. It will be good for Emily to have a sibling to share her life with.
Once again my parents missed the birth of a new grandchild. Once again we Skyped with them in New Zealand and let them see the baby as well as possible being thousands of miles away. Once again I felt thankful for modern technology. I miss Mom and Dad most when events as significant as the birth of a baby happen and they can’t be here, but I do know that they are were they are supposed to be and I’m so glad we can communicate with them as easily as we do. Don’t worry Mom, I’ll give this baby lots of kisses too.
Catherine Juliette is going to be a perfect and lovely addition to our family. We are so happy to have her here safely, and all fat and happy. Congratulations and Andrew and Laurie. We love you so much, and your girls too.

Oh for heaven's sake! What is wrong with me? You would think I didn't have a four month old of my own. I have a sever baby-loving problem! She is sooooo cute.
Oh my goodness, I love her already! Congrats A & L - she's precious.
She is adorable, and I love the hair!
On a side note, we found a long lost wedding breakfast video from my wedding last night and were watching it and there was MaryKate sitting with Uncle Dave, and she was only like 2 or 3 years old! She sure was cute, and she sure is growing up too fast!
I love her, love her, love her. I have Karen's disease. It's real. I love that picture of her trying to open her eyes.
She is beautiful! Its no surprise becuse andrew and laurie are so beautiful, too. Great pictures--you are talented, jill!
