Today was baptism day, a very big event for a Mormon kid. J and J have been waiting extra long (they turned 8 way back in April), so with all the extra anticipation they were more than excited.
I’m looking at these pictures I took this morning and I can’t believe how big my babies are! They look like little men in their shirts and ties.
They’re good boys too. I’m so proud of them.
Everyone who spoke at the baptism (thanks again to all) told the boys that they should take a few minutes to write down their memories of this special day so they would never forget. Good advice, but I’m afraid poor Jeffrey will have to include in his write up that he was sick on his baptism day. He started feeling icky late morning and suggested that maybe we should cancel the baptism and move it to a later date. Unfortunately we were just too far into it all- with food ordered, family traveling in our direction, programs printed, and the font being filled at the Stake Center. Mike gave him a sweet blessing and he made it through, but as soon as the baptism was over his fever spiked and he’s been in bed ever since. I feel bad for the poor boy. I hope he has good memories of this day despite it all. He’s such a sweet, good natured kid.
Uncle Lance snapped this picture before we left for the church. We didn’t ask her too, but Winnie noticed us all sitting, came and plopped herself down on the bottom step and posed. There was no way she wasn’t getting in on this family photo. (MK had stayed at her cousin’s house last night and was coming with them to the baptism, that’s why you don’t see her in the photo).
A neighbor friend of the boy’s who was baptized a few weeks ago told my boys that they would be embarrassed walking around the church in a white, zip-up jumpsuit, but my boys didn’t seem to mind at all. I don’t think they should have been embarrassed. I think they look very nice, clean and pure.
Mike did a wonderful job baptizing and confirming. He’s a good man and a good father. I so appreciate the example he sets for my boys.
I will be helping the boys write down their memories of this day and included in that writing will be something about how blessed we are to have such good family and friends who support us and love us. Thanks again to all of you who came today to show the boys your love. To all of those who weren’t with us: we missed you and thought of you too.
It was a good day. A big day. One we’ll always remember.

I'm very sad to have missed this big day! Tell Jonathan and Jeffrey they look devastatingly handsome in their shirts and ties. And that I love them.
I was there in spirit. I'm proud of the boys and their choice to be baptized. Sorry Jeffrey was sick- that's the pits, but glad he made it through.
Wishing we could have been there, love you guys, see you soon!!!
Great job boys!!! And great job Jill for doing everything to make it a great day. The program, food, and everything was perfect (Except Jeffrey not feeling well.)
