Celebrating 16 Years on the 16th

wedding

It’s that anniversary that only rolls around once in a life-time. Today Michael and I celebrate 16 years on the 16th. It’s hard to believe we’ve known each other 16 years let alone been married that long. Time has flown by quickly and pleasantly. A large portion of the joy I experience in this life is found in my marriage to Michael.

I read something awhile ago that I loved. I saved it to post today…

Love is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is.
Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being “in love” which any of us can convince ourselves we are.
Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident.

I believe that Mike and I have been lucky enough to have found '”love itself” by fortunate accident, but I also hope that we have learned a little about the art of it along the way.

I love you Michael…so much. Happy Anniversary!

Happy anniversary! You are a wonderful couple and deserve the best. May the next 16 years be even better--and on and on. I liked that quote. It's too bad we can't comprehend it when we're 18!

Happy Anniversary! I like to think I had a hand in your coming together. I mean, my employee discount was pretty cool. Have a happy happy day!!! P.S. I have 2 more years and I'll have my 16th on the 16th too!)

Happy Anniversary Jill and Mike. I love the quote, especially this line: "You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part."
