We had quite the party to celebrate the boys turning six. I let them have their first ‘friend’ party this year. The boys chose a car theme and invited the neighborhood. We had a rip roaring time!
Our neighbor’s brother goes around to garage sales and different DI’s and buys up used Power Wheels vehicles. He then puts his own extra strength batteries in them so they run super fast and extra long. We rented these cars from him for the party and had ourselves a mini derby. The kids were thrilled to death with this. We let them drive, race, and peel out until the batteries ran out of juice. We had some seriously good drivers too. These kids were skilled!
The dune buggy was the favorite. It had the most pizzazz and was the most fun to drive. We had to take turns with that one.
My favorite was watching the boys take the girls for a spin. So sweet.
After the derby we headed back home to finish up the festivities….
Lots of Thomas the Train items this year. Very happy boys as a result.
….a rousing rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’ and then cupcakes and popsicles all around.
…..very happy boys.
Later that night when I was tucking the boys into bed, Jeffrey said,
“Mom, guess what my favorite part of the day was.”
“I don’t know Jeffrey, what was your favorite part of the day?”
“The birthday part!”
It really was fun. Happy Birthday my boys!

That is the COOLEST, cutest thing ever. EVER. Look at their faces! I love the shot of the boy and girl in the Jeep - her braids are so sweet. Look at you - best mom ever. :)
Jill, you are the bravest person I know! How fun was all of that. I'm glad the boys had such a fun, memorable day.
What fun! Wow haven't they come a long way from those old wooden go-carts with lawnmower engines on the back that my brothers used to make! Happy Birthday boys.
Happy birthday!!
What an awesome party!
What a fun Birthday idea! What a cool mom you are to think of it! Cute pictures, too!
Amazing party Jill! I'll bet they'll want a similar theme when they're sixteen. Happy Birthday boys!
I love your party idea. I bet this is one memory they will never forget!
Yes, I have to agree with everyone - fun idea that was totally thinking at a kids level. Jacob had a ball, thanks for inviting him. Can you believe it has been 6 years? Times flies when your having fun.
This looks like the best party ever. I know my boys would agree with me. Does that trailer of mini cars ship cross-country?
