Love in the Desert

Mike went down to Moab last weekend with Laura, Tim, Dave and Lynette to run the Canyonlands half marathon. He took Mary Kate with him. They had a grand time together.

Mary Kate also got tons of love from Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Laura and Tim. Thanks you guys for showing her such a great time.

One thing's for sure, Mary Kate might look like me, but she is her daddy's girl. She LOVES the great outdoors. She did not get this trait from me. Sure, I like nature, but Mary Kate is right as home in it. Just like her dad. She has nothing but love for the beautiful earth! That kind of love is in the Dickey blood!

And here's some true love: Mike and his Bike - real BFFs

Here's Mike crossing the finish line. He said he didn't love the last two miles of this race but he made it!

I love you guys and missed you! Glad you're back safely!

Wow! What a great trip. I'm glad everyone had a good weekend. What did you do for fun, Jill, while Mike and MK were away?

So what, he loved the first 11.1 miles? Nutsy. Still, wish I was there (we saw snow again on Sunday), and wish I could even run 10 feet at this point.

Quoth Tim: "He didn't love the last two miles? I didn't love the last eight..."

Mary Kate was awesome - she hiked her guts out, and asked about every little thing. She wanted to take a sample of every rock type, cactus type, needle type, and sand type. I hope you won't mind if I bring her home a huge bag of sand!

Way to go Mike. When are you going to join him Jill? JK. I know you're gearin' up for the big one. I didn't know you weren't a nature girl.

Mike - I've run that race and the last two miles are the worst - boring plain flat ugly road into Moab and it's straight so it feels like it's never going to end. The first part is gorgeous view down the vally.
I miss you all.(julie)

Congratulations to Mike on finishing! We are going to that spot for spring break next week! Any tips would be appreciated.

It was pure pleasure spending the week end with those who went. I thoroughly enjoyed the thrill of clicking the camera at those who had sweat through the 13.1 miles and hiking and laughing the rest of the time. Same time, next year, you're all invited!
