Global Warming

fresh take at the lake and crepes 173

I don’t know if we can credit global warming or what, but believe it or not, it’s been warm enough in Utah this October to do a little Jet Skiing. Last Saturday we decided to take a few friends and head to the lake. 75 degrees was the high, and the water was cold, but not unbearable. Best part about it…hardly anybody else seemed to think October was a good month for a Saturday at the lake. We basically had the whole place to ourselves.

Utah lake may be the most disgusting lake on God’s green earth. It’s only 12 feet deep at the most, it’s full of pollution after years of Geneva Steel using it as a dumping ground, and not only that, but Utah lake is home to 70 million pounds of carp. Just check out the color of the water in the photos for example.

As a rule, I won’t get near Utah lake, but I made an exception last week as it was my last chance to Jet ski for the year. It was worth it. We had a blast. (Don’t worry, I took a long shower afterwards)

I took Judy for a wild ride! She had to hang on for dear life.

Jet skiing in mid October….not half bad really. I’m glad we went last week because it’s supposed to snow this week. Not sure if I’m ready for winter?

Did you mean 70 million pounds of "crap" instead of "carp" just kidding. That does bring back happy memories of a wild ride I once had on a jet ski with a crazy driver:)

I went waterskiing in October once. But it was more like 55 than 75, and we all had on coats and hats when we weren't skiing.

Utah lake... ick... but it's probably not that much worse than Hyrum Dam. Looks like fun! And you're right... some things must be sacrificed for a fun day at the lake.

Looks like a great time! I'm not sure global warming is all that bad . . .

I can't believe you went in that lake. I wouldn't even go near it when we lived in Provo and it was super hot and we'd just taken a bike ride. You're a brave woman. Kiss a carp for me next time you go.

Did they have the coast guard watching every move you made--like if you were wearing your life jacket or if you were going too close to the carpies?
I, too, have enjoyed global warming this fall! I might change my mind later. But what can one do but cheerfully enjoy what we have!

Carp is a delicacy in some countries, even though it basically eats garbage. I am glad you always know how to enjoy life. I am living better through your blog~

Looks like so much fun! It snowed a tiny bit here yesterday and it is freeing cold. After only two days, I am already a little tired of it!

I have to thank you for listing the link to "Enjoying the Small Things" on your blog list. I was checking to see if you lost the link to my blog and came across it. About an hour a later, I was totally uplifted. What an awesome lady - I need to have more of her attitude!

I do have to give Kudos to Jill for getting into the lake. Never thought I'd see the day... It was a fun few hours. If anybody wants to attempt a November run, let me know :-)
