The boys have been learning about westward expansion at school. I’ve enjoyed helping them with their homework because the history of the American west is one of my all time favorite subjects. (If you ever want to watch a fantastic documentary on the subject I would highly recommend this one).
This afternoon, I was going through Jonathan’s homework folder and found his returned and graded test on the American west. I had to share this because it’s just too good to keep to myself…
What I can’t understand is why he got docked 1/2 a point for this very accurate answer? I can only conclude that it must be because he forgot to begin the sentence with a capitol letter.

i love this too much. :)
Ha ha ha. I would have given him extra points - one point for every "so." Rude teacher.
I think that was an excellent answer! I'm enjoying your boys' new school! :)
I keep coming back to your blog to re-read this. You cannot look at this without smiling! It is so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so cute.
Love that boy.
Have you told him about Great-Great-...-Great-Grandmother Running Dear? I bet he'll be so excited.
I'm mad as can be at his teacher. She has no funny bone. Ridiculously cute, that boy.
I laughed and laughed.
he should get extra points for putting all those commas after each so. He is too smart for conventional wisdom!!
Maybe he lost the 1/2 point because it's not a complete sentence? Still, I'm with you. That's the only thing I remember about the Trail of Tears in school: it was sad.
