We celebrated Mike’s birthday last night, even though his official birthday is today. Jeffrey and I both have dentist appointments this afternoon and I wasn’t sure how much we would feel like celebrating once we got home; so last night we partied.
Mike is turning 37 today. He’s getting up there, but he still has the same relentless energy and fabulous good looks he had when I met him 16 years ago. In fact, I think he gets better lookin’ every year. Wouldn’t you agree?
I love November 29th because we get to celebrate the birth of the greatest guy I know. Happy birthday Michael. I love you; we all love you, because you really are the best of the best. How lucky I am that I found you and was smart enough to marry you. Best decision ever!
Mike made a wish when he blew out his candles, and to Jonathan’s horror, announced that he had wished for a new sports car and a million dollars. Too bad he told us, because now his wish definitely won’t come true.
Here’s Mike modeling some of his birthday gifts. I picked out a fabulous new shirt and some matching corduroy pants (an outfit he looks great in by the way) and Jeffrey crafted these interesting paper items and sealed them in an envelope. When Mike first shook these orange beauties out onto the table we were all a bit confused, but Jeffrey soon cleared things up when he asked, “What do you like best of all?” Oh yeah…they’re basketballs! I think Mike should pin the paper basketballs to his new shirt when he wears it, because they match!
Here’s Jonathan’s gift…
I love it…”Happy B-day Dad Dickey.”
You all have my permission to party it up today in celebration of Dad Dickey’s big day. Maybe you could play some basketball or something? That’s what Mike is doing right this minute in fact. He’ll probably stay extra long because it’s his birthday after all.
Happy Birthday Michael! Your are truly the BOMB!

How cool! This IS a great day. I love that your kids have a handle on what sort of dreams will come true and what sort will "definitely not" come true. Ha!
Thanks honey for all the kind words. And thanks in advance to all the other commenters for all the nice things they will say about me.
Mike really is a great guy...glad I could do my part to get you two together :) John's getting that shirt for Christmas...don't tell!
Happy Birthday to the husband of the greatest friend in the world. You are so talented, so good for Jill. so techy, such a gentle giant, and the list goes on and on. Was I nice enough Mike?
Happy birthday Mike. This is the only day of the year when I will admit that you really are an awesome brother and I've always looked up to you.
I have a suspicion that someone has upgraded his/her photography equipment. You must email me the details- your pictures are gorgeous!
Happy Birthday Mike!! In your honor, I will sing a lovely rendition of The Little Mermaid and eat at least five pieces of cake. I'm nice like that.
Happy birthday Michael! For your birthday, I will tell you something honest: you are special.
(No, seriously, I like you.)
For the record, I immediately knew what Jeffrey's presents were. :-)
I'm happy you don't mind pie for your birthday. That's what we usually put candles in when you were younger (your birthday being so close to Pie Day and all!)
I hate to put anything in print that might give you a bigger head, but you really are the very best son-in-law I have. This family became so much better when you joined it. We love you!
haha! I loved the basketballs present the best. We will celebrate extra hard today for Mike. He is a handsome guy too! What camera do you use-by the way?
Happy birthday MIKE! Love you
After listening to Jill brag about you for the past 2 years, it's hard to not think fondly of you Mike.
I think I am in danger of becoming one of your screaming fans.
ps: is that real snow? in PG?
