My baby’s growing up! There’s just something about a child getting braces that makes them seem so….teenage! I know she’s only ten (very soon to be eleven), but I can feel the teenage years pressing hard on our heels. Along with the braces has come a tiny bit of teenage attitude. Not much, Mary Kate is a very pleasant child, but still, there is a tiny smidgen of it there. Just enough for Mike and I to get a little glimpse of the future.
This morning I went in Mary Kate’s room to do a little straightening and found that she had left me a little message on her white board……
Heart melting huh! I’m just going to soak it up. I know someday, in the relatively near future, she may not so readily associate her parents with hearts and flowers. We will be entering a realm of the parent-child relationship that will be completely new for all involved. I just hope we are ready. No matter what though, I will always love my Mary Kate.

I will also always love that Mary Kate. She's one of my favorites of all time.
Mary Kate looks fantastic in tin. I kind of miss having braces. I really miss having straight teeth (curse you uncomfortable retainer!).
How could you not love that face? You look beautiful MK. You make braces look good!
Save that picture. They do come far and inbetween from those teen years.
Hello! What a darling child that is! I am lucky that I get to see it every day:) Thanks for our cute door decorations! You are great!
That note reminded me of the ones you used to leave me. They are treasures that I have kept for many years. I don't know how you will fold up the one on the wipe board. A picture of it will have to do. Mary Kate is perfect!
Jill- I just realized that in my previous comment I referred to Mary Kate as "it". I think I was thinking about her darling face and how I get to see it every day:) She most certainly is not an "it". Thanks for your comment on my blog. I will be teaching swimming lessons this summer; I'm not positive when I'll be starting. I'll let you know! Your Intuitive Eating blog looks interesting...
You look way better than I do in braces, you'll get over the pain :) Told you not to worry ♥♥
Mary Kate looks SO much older! Wow. I remember the 3 1/2 years I had braces very well.... it seems to be a much shorter process now, thank goodness! And that is a very sweet note. We are lucky to have daughters, aren't we!
MaryKate looks beautiful and all grown up!! She has a great smile!
What a sweet girl. She is looking more and more grown up as the days go by. Enjoy these times because someday their teeth will be straight and they will be smiling for a wedding photo. It goes fast.
I deleted the last post as I had mispelled a word!
So, here is what it said: We also have notes left us by Mary Kate. When we are feeling unloved and undercherished, we pull them out and the day is always brighter. We love you, Mary Kate, metal and all!
You look great, Mary Kate!
You're the best MK... I love you.
Mary Kate is so cute! Braces aren't so fun, but definitely worth it! At least she looks cute in them! :)
That is adorable
