Girlfriends

There are two girls in our neighborhood that have special places in my boy's hearts. Jeffrey informed me that he is going to marry Tarin and Jonathan will marry Launa when they grow up, (this, only after I explained to them that they couldn't legally marry each other, which was their previous plan).

Tarin is a very girly girl. She loves to wear skirts and dresses. I rarely see her without several bows in her perfectly coiffed hair. She always brings her baby dolls and stroller along when she comes to play. Tarin's mom heard the kids talking one afternoon about kissing. She instructed the boys that they were only allowed to kiss Tarin on the cheek, not the lips. So far they've complied (I think).

Then there's Launa. Launa is little tiny and sings all day, everyday, and loves to boss. She and Jonathan are best friends and get along perfectly, unless Launa decideds to get in a mood. A few days ago she laid down on the floor and declared she was done playing. Nothing Jonathan said or did was enough to cheer her up or convince her to play with him again. After much pleading and one sided negotiation, Jonathan came up stairs, very frustrated, and said to Launa's mom, "I just don't know what she wants!" Oh Jonathan, welcome to the roller coaster ride, otherwise know as women's emotions!

I love watching these kids play. They play so easily with one another, no awkwardness at all, just kids being kids. I know someday that will change. Pretty soon the girls will be 'GIRLS', and the boys will be too cool to play with them. Eventually their relationships will become something entirely new. Someday that will happen, but until then.......

So so cute. Seth has a love too. I blogged about it a little bit ago. Maybe you even read it.

How sweet! I love it when boys are sensitive enough to have girlfriends even in the cootie years.

I laughed so hard when I read about them planning to marry each other. We had to set Calvin straight the other day when he announced that I was going to be the mother of his children. What a confusing world this must be for the young.

Ha ha! The bit about Launa laying on the floor and not allowing herself to be appeased....ahhh, sweet relationships! Run Jonathon! Run as fast as you can!!

I think those girls bring out the sensitive side of your boys. Too cute! You are lucky, there are so many kids in Utah. Honestly, I don't know where are the kids here in Maryland!

My little brother had a girl best friend that lived across the street. It was so sad when kids at school talked them into believing that something was wrong with it, and it ended. Stupid peer pressure.

I mostly like that they thought they were going to marry each other first. That's just not legal...on so many levels.

I love kid logic!!

Jonathan is going to have to compete with Jacob for Lana. Childhood loves are so sweet.
