I'm back! The jet lag has worn off, I've reclaimed my position as domestic engineer and mother of the house and I finally have time to sit down and report on my fabulous dream of a vacation to Paris, France. Check out the stamp in my passport. I'm a world traveler!
For those of you who were wondering, I went to Paris, sort of on a whim, with my cousin Alisa to visit our cousin Emilie who lives in Paris with her French husband Xavier. We went for one amazing, incredible, and fabulous week and had the time of our lives.
Paris was everything I dreamed it would be and more. Alisa was the perfect traveling companion and Emilie, her husband Xavier, and little Marguerite were delightful and the perfect hosts. I will be grateful to them my whole life for their hospitality and generosity. They made certain we had a grand time. Emilie was a wonderful guide. She knows the city well so we didn't have to struggle with typical tourist things like finding our way around and understanding the language. This made for a relaxing trip.
Paris is an incredible place. I wandered through the city with my jaw dropped, gawking at everything, acting like the typical tourist. There were a few times that I was so overwhelmed with the beauty and amazement of it all, and the fact that I was actually there, I got a little emotional and shed a few tiny tears.
Thanks to Mike, Mom, Dad, Belinda, Tiffany, Rachel and Michelle for helping with the kids and holding down the fort while I was gone. Of course, I couldn't have had this experience without your help. SO grateful!
I'm still waiting for the majority of the pictures that Alisa took with her fancy camera and considerable photography skills, but I have a few to share now. Here's a little teaser. More to come later along with favorites and special moments I want to tell you about.

Oh, Jill!!!! You are so lucky! I have wanted to go to Europe- anywhere in Europe- for so long! I am so happy that you got to go. I can't wait to see all of your pictures. I'm quite jealous of your passport now, and may have to get one for myself in case I take a fabulous trip one day. Anyway, welcome back and I can't wait to read all about it!
Wahoo!!! I'm so glad you had a blast! Of course I'm jealous, but I'm sure you deserved a fun trip like that! Every mom needs a little break from the norm and to go to exotic places! Can't wait to see the rest of your picts!
I'm glad you had a great trip. It looks beautiful!
Jill i have been checking this blog up to twelve times an hour (when I'm near a computer) since you've been home waiting for any little information about the time in Paris. I'll probably be giving you a phone call but it looks like good times were had by all.
I was just thinking, why hasn't she posted about her trip! thanks! It looks fantastic, and I hope I can follow your example and go to Paris on a whim :) or anywhere, for that matter! Can't wait to see/hear more.
Looking forward to more pictures and more stories!
I'm glad you're back...and had a good time. I'll wait till the more "in depth" post for a longer, typical "Lara" comment. But I had to say it...
How rockin' do you look in that green shirt? Geez!
It's always good to have you back home with your feet on the ground. The whole time you're away I'm wondering how we will manage if something happens to you. Dad would have to quit his job and we'd move in with Mike, etc. None of the options sound very desirable. We all need you and love having you around. Glad you had such a good time!
Uhh looks like so much fun! Why couldn't I sneak with you again! Miss you!
*sigh*
I'm so excited to swap Paris stories with you (yep, that's just to rub it in, Karen and Laura). But seriously, you sound like you had a Dijon tour and I can't wait for the details. I would also like to eat everything in that mini-cookie-looking picture (including the sugar cubes).
Jill, what a trip! Sounds like you guys had a great time!
I think you would make a good spokesperson for an advertisement company on any trip. We thoroughly enjoyed the preview when you came over to return the luggage. I thought it was hilarious how you had 2 teenage boys captive while you explained all the niceties of Paris. For being such a girly place, I think you could have even convinced 2 active, thrill seeking teenagers to want to go to Paris. Is that one dreamy picture the place you told me about that was just outside of town ( your favorite spot)? That looks incredible. You looked so comfortable there. Can't wait for our lunch date with pictures. I think you should have Mike put them in a powerpoint slideshow so it will be like we are at the movies.
I am so happy Jill you had the chance to go to Paris to see Em, isnt; jet lag so hard-did you have trouble adjusting, I did when we went, it is a life experiece I will not forget either/when we wen tto Switzerland and France. Thanks for sharing. I am glad you are back, I wish I could have helped you out with your children, I can;t wait to see you soon. i am exicted to see teh rest of your picutres. I love you
