Mary Kate's piano teacher Beverly plans a lovely piano recital for her students every year in December. Mary Kate has been working very hard on her solo. At the recital on Saturday she played fabulously, despite her nervousness. I'm so proud of her and how hard she has worked learning to play the piano. As many of you can attest to, the process of learning to play an instrument is rough sometimes. Mary Kate has had her days of frustration and tears, and I'll admit that I have too, but when I ask Kate if she wants to quit, she adamently says no. Despite the difficulty, she is very commited and it's paying off. Of course so much of her success is due to her amazing piano teacher Beverly. Beverly is so knowledgable (after many years of teaching piano) and sweetly encouraging to her students. No wonder her students keep practicing.
I'm posting a video of Kate playing her solo. Don't feel obligated to watch of course, but a few family members might be interested. I apologize for the awful sounding piano. I really need to get it tuned or get a new one all together.
One more treat for Uncle Jeff.... Kate learned this one just for you in honor of your days as a piano student of Sister Robinson's and that memorable recital many years ago at Bountiful Library. Remember? I sure do! The music is the same, but I think Mary Kate is a little shorter than you were then.

Way to go Kate! I'm seriously impressed. Step aside Beethoven, Mary Kate has entered the building! I'm so proud of you.
Nice piano playin Mary Kate! Yes, I was a little taller than that and I also remember that song being a little choppier. Its also not the same without the book repeatedly sliding off the piano!
Bravo! Now how great is technology that I get to hear and see my beautiful and talented niece play the piano from all the way across the country?!? I think MK's talent stems from her early days on the keyboard in our Provo apartment. :)
Mary Kate, that was AWESOME! I can't believe how good you are getting and I love, love, love your dress. You are getting more beautiful every day.
Jill, your girl is so beautiful AND talented! She has a bright future ahead of her!
Mary Kate - Shoot girl. That was amazing. You sounded so good. Do you think you could be Joyce's piano teacher. She'd really like it.
Bravo Mary Kate! Magnifique!
Great dynamics and musicality!
Kate is a beautiful, talented girl! OK, I know you already know that, but I thought I would tell you again. You should be so proud of her and her dedication. My 2 girls are learning too and it has involved many tears of frustration. BUT, when they play those Christmas songs for the family gatherings they are SO proud!
This is so disappointing. I can see her going through the motions, but I can't hear a thing. Where is Mike when I need him. I know there must be an easy fix. I was wanting to compare Mary Kate's 'Riding on a Mule' with Jeff's.
Oh, the Christmas recital. I looked forward to mine every year for 2 reasons. #1 there were always great treats. #2 we didn't have to memorize our pieces. Our teacher would let us use music for the Christmas recital. And since memorizing is my most hated task....i loved that!!
Christmas piano time is the very best time of the year! (And your daughter is very talented!!)
Sorry we are so late. Great job Mary Kate. Are you ready for a play-off with Lance? We could call it a piano duel. Lance says he is not sure he is ready to challenge you cause your so good. He is a scaredy-cat and afraid of being beaten. Keep up the good work. Grandpa Dave.
