Two good "mommy moments", one sweet, one funny

This week has been LONG. Lots of hard work in the mommy department. When things get like this, I try to focus on the moments that seem to make all the hard work worth it. Here are two...

Monday was Mary Kate's first day of school. (See photos) I practically had to block the door so she wouldn't leave and get to school too early. After school she burst in, so eager to tell me about how totally awesome her day was. After relating all the exciting details, she decided to go over to Brooklyn's to play. As she was bounding out the door, she stopped and blurted "Mommy, I love you! I don't know why I said that, I just felt like it!"
How sweet is that!
It's not like we never say "I love you." I try to say it to her everyday and she usually responds in kind, but this time it was so energetic and spontaneous. She said it because she felt it.

Sweet mommy moment!

A few days later, I'm sitting on the deck reading an "In Style" magazine, more specifically an article entitled "Fall Fashion Fever: Best Trends and How to Wear Them." I hear the boys call my name and turn around to see this....

And this........

Now there is some fall fashion! A Santa hat and an apron (or "cooking dress" as the boys call it) paired with filthy clothing, all accessorized with some deep nose picking and dirty faces. Beat that, In Style magazine!

Funny mommy moment!

how sweet...all of it...even the nose picking. If only that were an Olympic sport!

Speaking of In Style, I love MK's outfit and hairdo. Goh-jey-us.

Your boys are hilarious. I think you should write a weekly/daily column about the wily adventures they create with each other.

You can't fool me. I know you put those two boys up to it. You dressed them up, smeared dirt on their faces, and told Jeffrey to pick his nose. I have always found them to be model children. Mary Kate is also perfect. I can say that purely without bias.

Don't you love those "mommy moments"? It puts everything into perspective and makes it all worth it! What sweet children you have. I'm glad you took a picture of your son picking his nose, I think I'll snap one of Andrew next time. It will be invaluable one day I'm sure.

Love it! I love that they call aprons "cooking dresses". Ha ha ha! I stuck a Santa hat on Eli the other day...he was NOT a fan. I don't know what I'm going to do...he is so out of style!

I used to love it when the twins fought over who got to wear MK's dress-up dresses. I'm glad they're so comfortable with themselves that they can wear heels and purses without shame. Tell MK I think she's the most beautiful girl in all of Utah.

Now I know where you get all your stylish fashion ideas. It will be fun reading all your fun entries. You are an amazing writer. I think I laughed at everyone of your blogs. Maybe not the one where everyone left you. I know how close you are to Amy.
