I haven’t posted in weeks. My poor little blog has been sadly neglected. It’s not because I’ve had nothing to blog about, but because I’ve had serious trouble finding two minutes to rub together. Many years ago my friend Cherish told me that her life got even more busy once her children were older. When she said this I had small children and couldn’t imagine being more busy than I already was, but it turns out that Cherish was so right.
What is it that keeps me so busy?
My days are filled with nothing spectacular, but there is always, always something.
Some details…
…laundry, laundry and more laundry; along with menu planning, and then of course cooking the planned meals. The individuals I live with wear clothing everyday that eventually needs cleaning, and they eat…like…three times a day, everyday, plus snacks!
I spend considerable amounts time waiting at various locations such as the orthodontist office, dentist office, piano teacher’s, basketball practice, and in line at Target. Needless to say, I get lots of reading in.
Then there’s car pool. You can’t just leave the kids sitting in front of the school. School administrators don’t like it. Believe me…I know.
Everyday there is homework to help with…oodles of it. It never seems to end!
There’s reading…
…and practicing (she looks thrilled, right?)…
…and cleaning, grocery shopping, haircuts, basketball games, FHE, scouts, choir concerts, play practice, the vet, Halloween, volunteering at the school, church responsibilities, personal hygiene…you get the picture. My days are packed to the gills, and then I’ve got to try and squeeze in time to watch Jeopardy everyday…(I know Shannon, I’m a big nerd!)
I’m not complaining. I’m really not. I’m very content with my life and I feel so lucky to being doing what I’m doing, so lucky to be able to do what I’m doing. I love taking care of my family, even when I don’t love it. Does that make any sense?
I thoroughly enjoyed General Conference this month. It was a treat to stay home with my family and listen to a prophet’s voice. Something President Monson said stuck with me and has been resonating in my head ever since. He said, “The Lord is in the details of our lives.” I’ve always known this and believed it to be true, but it’s amazing how much more true it is when one is looking for His hand in those details. He is there…I can see it…everyday.

I love this post, Jill. Thank you for the reminder from Pres. Monson - I really needed to hear that today! You're awesome!
Thanks for all you do. You're the best!! Hopefully you've gone through the worst of your busyness. Should be smooth sailing from now on. Love You!!
I like to call it plate spinning. And sometimes lots of my plates crash to the ground, but I just have to remember to keep spinning the important ones. You're awesome!
